Ex-cop Phinaes Poe has just been released from 6 months in a psychiatric hospital when he meets Jude. She is savage, unsentimental and gorgeous. She’s also a prostitute. Poe spends the night with her only to wake up in a bathtub packed full of ice. Jude has taken one of his kidneys. “Don’t worry,” she whispers, “you only really need one.” She plans to sell his kidney on the black market, but Phinaes is determined to reclaim what is rightly his.
